This strip is simulated with the same color rules the unit's firmware uses. Click or tap the keys (press low on a key for a harder touch), type on your letter keys, or press Auto-play.

Auto-play is showing every color on all three strip types while it plays a set of practice pieces, one after another. Press Stop auto-play, or just play a key, to take over. Letter keys A S D F G H J K L (and W E T Y U) play C4 upward; Left/Right arrows change the effect.

iPiano Web Visualizer

What you play on the piano above also shows here, as in the iPiano Web Visualizer app.

Learning Lab

Your keys teach you.

This is how the strip guides a lesson. Choose a mode, then play with your mouse, the letter keys (A S D F G H J K L) or a MIDI keyboard. In Piano Tutor the next key pulses and the lesson waits for you; hit a wrong key and it flashes red.

Free Play

Play anything. Every note you press lights its key in your chosen colors, so you see your playing as light.

Watch & Listen

Let the song play while the keys light up in time. Follow along, learn the notes, and play along when you are ready.

Piano Tutor

The strip shows the exact key to press and waits for you, step by step. Wrong keys flash red so you can correct as you go.

Synthesia is software from a third party and is not affiliated with iPiano. The lesson screen above is an illustration; the unit lights up whatever lesson your computer or iPad sends it.

All 57 modes

Every color mode, in motion.

Below are the colors and effects available on the iPiano LED Visualizer, simulated for you to get some idea. Click on each effect and it will be selected on the Effect Lab’s simulated piano above. Play and get some idea.

*This is a simulation only, the actual effect may be slightly different.

Colors on screen are brighter and more saturated than a camera sees on a real strip, and real LEDs vary a little by batch. Mode “SK” sets where the keyboard divides into left and right colors, and mode “A” matches the colors of the iPiano Web Visualizer app on your screen.

Controls

Two touch pads. That's the whole interface.

Change colors and brightness without stopping to play. Try the touch pads below: they drive the Effect Lab above.

Illustration of the touch-pad workflow. The real display layout may differ.
  • UP pad: next color mode, instantly, while you play.
  • DOWN pad: brightness up in steps of 10, wrapping back to the dimmest.
  • Both pads, short touch: panic-clear if a light is ever stuck on.
  • Both pads, hold: jump 10 colors ahead; hold longer to open the settings menu.
  • Settings menu: default color, brightness, octave width, first key, LEDs per key, keyboard split key, touch sensitivity, display theme, save and reset.

Please note: this item is not a musical instrument. It is an accessory for your existing piano or music keyboard.
Extension cables and converters may be needed depending on your piano. Some instrument makers use their own MIDI standards on certain keyboards, so the listed effects may not work consistently on every keyboard. Some additional skills and tools for video recording and editing are needed to film your playing.
Synthesia is third-party software and is not affiliated with iPiano.
